Boomerang for Sport and Hunting

Boomerang is like a wooden tool having particular or some particular shapes. The history of boomerang can be approximated 20,000 years as the oldest boomerang was found at Carpathian Mountains in Poland estimated 20,000 years old. Boomerang is normally associated with the culture of Australia as well as North East Africa, Arizona and southern California Native Americans and in India. Boomerang can be found in many shapes and sizes these variation of shapes and sizes depends upon the geographical location in which it is found.

We can categorize boomerang into two major divisions according to its returning and non-returning qualities. The most common and recognizable type of boomerang is returning boomerang. Concept behind the returning boomerang is, when thrown in a particular way, it travels a distance and then returns to its point of origin. Other type is non-returning boomerang that never returns after thrown and some types are even not thrown anyway they were and are still used for hand-to-hand combat. There are many uses of boomerang like it can be used for hunting, musical instrument, fire starters’ decoys for hunting waterfowl, and as play toys. The size of a boomerang can vary from 10cm to 2m and they can be designed and painted according to the wish of its manufacturer. Most of the boomerangs being made these days are used for competition and are of returning type.

The most important aspect of usage of boomerang is its use for hunting like the shape of a boomerang and its elliptical flight path is very useful for hunting. Hunters use it to throw on fleet of birds to knock them down. Boomerang can also be used to knock down animals as large as kangaroos. For kangaroos, impact must be on the legs or knees while hunting an EMU boomerang is thrown towards the neck, in order to beak the neck. Another interesting usage of boomerang is communication for instance the use of returnable boomerang by western Victorian has also been recorded as a way of communication.

Finally we would describe the two other important aspects of a boomerang which are design and throwing technique, normally boomerang is a shape of an airfoil, if it is observed carefully we can see sort of wing or wings on a boomerang so when it is thrown with a high speed its wing or wings produce(s) the lift. Boomerang larger in size are used for hunting and they fall down the ground after hitting the target the smaller ones are used in sports and they normally return to the thrower, a boomerang flies in a curve rather than straight and if thrown correctly it returns to the thrower. Returning boomerang consists of two or more wings, wings are shaped of an airfoil. Some throwing techniques are, always a left-handed boomerang circles through right and right-sided circles through left. Boomerang can be thrown from either hand but for a perfect flight and return the wings should be at 15 degrees. Boomerang is held from the tip using thumb and one two or three fingers, moreover concentration at force should be more than at the spin. For further details about boomerangs you can search the Internet, which is rich at its information.
